German balloon ramirezi

The Electric Blue Balloon Ram (Mikrogeophagus ramirezi) is a selectively line-bred dwarf cichlid vibrant neon-blue coloration and compact, round body shape. Because they are heavily inbred to maintain these traits, they are genetically delicate and require advanced care compared to wild-type rams.

Aggression: While they are peaceful community fish, they become highly aggressive toward tank mates when protecting eggs or fry.

Aquascaping: Furnish the tank with dense live plants, bogwood, and smooth flat stones or caves for territory and breeding sites.

Adult Size: 2 to 2.5 inches (5 to 6.4 cm).

Lifespan: 2 to 4 years (highly dependent on water quality).

Temperament: Peaceful but territorial during breeding cycles.

Minimum Tank Size: 20 gallons (approx. 75 liters) for a single mated pair.
