Golden Cloud Minnow (Tanichthys albonubes var. gold), Gold White Cloud Mountain Minnow

The Golden Cloud Minnow (Tanichthys albonubes "Gold") is a hardy, peaceful coldwater freshwater fish that grows to a maximum size of 1.2 to 1.6 inches (3 to 4 cm) and is famous for its vibrant gold body and bright red fins.

Care and Behavior

Social behavior: They are active shoaling fish that must be kept in groups of at least six (ideally 10 or more) to feel secure and show vibrant schooling behavior.

Temperature needs: As a subtropical species, they thrive in unheated, cool-water tanks and do not require an aquarium heater in normal room climates. Warmer tropical temperatures can shorten their lifespan.

Diet: They have an omnivorous diet and eagerly accept fish flakes, micro-pellets, and live or frozen foods like brine shrimp and daphnia.

Compatibility: They make ideal community fish for nano setups and can be safely kept with peaceful tankmates like Corydoras catfish, small tetras, and dwarf shrimp.

Tank setup: They appreciate a well-planted aquarium with open swimming spaces and a secure lid, as they are known jumpers.
