The Halfmoon Monster Butterfly Betta is an exotic, selectively bred variety of Betta splendens prized for its striking coloration and massive, symmetrical fins.

Key Characteristics

Halfmoon (HM) Tail: The tail fin opens up to a full, crisp 180-degree angle when flaring, forming a distinct semi-circle shape resembles a half moon.

Butterfly Pattern: The fins have a solid body color at the base that transitions cleanly into a distinct, contrasting band (often white or translucent) along the outer edges.

"Monster" Traits: This tag usually describes two variations in the hobby. It either highlights a striking solid white face that sharply contrasts against a colorful body, or it refers to a "Giant" size strain that grows much larger than standard bettas.

Essential Care & Setup

Tank Size: Provide a minimum tank size of 20 liters (5 gallons) to ensure stable water parameters.

Water Conditions: Keep the water tropical, between 24°C and 27°C (75°F to 81°F).

Filter Flow: Use an adjustable or low-flow sponge filter, as their heavy, delicate fins make swimming difficult in strong currents.
