Red Dragon Flowerhorn 3.5"

The Red Dragon Flowerhorn (is one of the most popular and vibrant hybrid cichlids in the aquarium hobby. Bred artificially for its striking aesthetic, this fish is famous for its intense crimson coloration, shimmering pearlescent scales, and highly interactive "pet-like" personality. 

Tank Setup & Care Requirements

Tank Size: Minimum 200 to 400 liters (approx. 55 to 100 gallons). They grow up to 30–40 cm (12–15 inches) and need plenty of swimming room.

Water Parameters: Maintain a stable temperature between 26°C and 30°C (78–86°F) and a neutral-to-alkaline pH range of 7.0 to 8.0.

Aquarium Layout: Use a bare-bottom tank or thin sand with minimal decorations. Flowerhorns are aggressive diggers and will destroy live plants or scrape themselves on sharp rocks.

Filtration: They generate a high bioload. A strong canister filter or sump system paired with regular water changes is mandatory to preserve their health and bright colors.

Diet & Aggression

Feeding: They are highly active carnivores. Feed them high-protein cichlid pellets, krill, and frozen shrimp. Look for foods containing astaxanthin to naturally deepen their red coloration.

Compatibility: They are extremely aggressive and territorial. They should almost always be kept alone in a single-specimen tank, as they will fight or kill tank mates.
