Golden Base FlowerHorn

The Golden Base Flowerhorn (also known as a "Fader") is a highly prized, vibrant variety of the hybrid Flowerhorn cichlid. They are famous for their unique color transformation. They start life with dark, dull stripes and completely "fade" their dark pigments to reveal a brilliant yellow, orange, or reddish-gold base color.

Essential Care & Tank Setup

Tank Size: 285 liters (75 gallons) minimum for one adult fish.

Water Temperature: Keep it between 78°F to 82°F (25°C to 28°C).

pH Range: Maintain a steady pH level between 7.4 and 8.0.

Filtration: Use heavy, high-volume canister filters to handle heavy bioloads.

Temperament & Tank Mates

Aggression: They are moderately aggressive to highly territorial predators.

Co-habitation: They are best kept completely alone in their own single-specimen tank.

Risk: They will actively attack, injure, or kill smaller fish and rival cichlids.

Diet & Grooming

Base Diet: Feed high-protein pellets specifically formulated for large cichlids.

Fresh Foods: Supplement with occasional frozen krill, market shrimp, or mealworms.
