Rosetail Betta fish

A Rosetail Betta fish is an advanced variation of the Halfmoon Betta, characterized by an exclusively branched and heavily ruffled tail that overlaps to resemble the overlapping petals of a blooming rose.

Unique Appearance

The Rosetail's signature look stems from intense genetic branching in the caudal fin rays.

180-Degree Plus Spread: The fins often spread well past a 180-degree half-circle.

Overlapping Layers: The excessive ray branching creates dense, cascading ruffles that fold into layers, mimicking feathers or rose petals.

Vibrant Variations: They appear in nearly every betta color pattern, including solid reds, marbles, and pastels.

Specific Care Requirements

Because of their extreme anatomy, Rosetail Bettas need specialized tank conditions compared to regular, short-finned bettas:

Ultra-Low Flow Filters: Heavy fins make it exhausting to fight water movement. Utilize an adjustable sponge filter to minimize current.

Zero Sharp Decor: Their massive, delicate fins tear easily. Completely avoid plastic plants and rough rocks; stick entirely to soft silk or live aquarium plants.

Resting Spots: Due to the sheer weight of their tails, Rosetails tire quickly. Provide plenty of wide, smooth leaves or floating betta hammocks near the surface so they can easily rest and breathe air.

Water Stability: They possess highly fragile immune systems. Keep water temperatures strictly between 24–28°C and maintain aggressive water monitoring, as they crash quickly from waste spikes.
