Trident Fern - 1 pot

Trident Fern (Microsorum pteropus 'Trident') is a popular, narrow-leaved, multi-lobed variant of the classic Java Fern. It is highly prized in aquascaping for its distinct tripartite (three-pronged) leaf structure that resembles a trident weapon.

Key Characteristics

Appearance: Deeply forked, slender fronds that add rich texture and dynamic movement to aquarium layouts.

Growth Habit: It is an epiphyte with a creeping horizontal rhizome. It naturally anchors itself to hardscape.

Placement: Ideal for the midground or background. Its compact nature also makes it highly suitable for nano tanks.

Planting and Propagation

Do Not Bury the Rhizome: Avoid burying the horizontal stalk under gravel or sand. This cuts off oxygen and will rot the plant.

Hardscape Attachment: Secure the fern to rocks, stones, or driftwood using thread, fishing line, or aquarium-safe superglue.Nutrient Needs: Because it sits above the substrate, it cannot feed from soil nutrients. Feed it via the water column using regular liquid fertilizers.

Easy Propagation: Tiny daughter plants naturally form on the leaf tips. You can gently pull these off and attach them elsewhere once they develop minor roots. You can also cut and divide the main rhizome.
