The Albino Argus Channa (also known as the Albino Northern Snakehead) is a highly coveted, ultra-rare color variant of Channa argus. Known for its striking pale coloration, pinkish undertones, and vivid red eyes, this predatory monster fish has taken the exotic aquarium hobby by storm.

Key Characteristics & Features

Exotic Appearance: Unlike the dark, mottled camouflage of the standard Northern Snakehead, the albino variant exhibits a creamy white-to-yellow body. A highly prized "short body" mutation with red eyes also exists in the high-end trade.

Massive Size: This is a true tank buster. It routinely grows from 30 cm to over 85 cm (1 to 2.8+ feet) in length.

Extreme Hardiness: It is uniquely adaptable. While it thrives in tropical aquarium setups, the wild species can survive in water temperatures ranging from freezing 0°C up to 30°C+.

Aquarium Care & Requirements

Tank Size: Due to its potential size and powerful swimming habits, an adult requires an enormous, custom-sized aquarium or a secure indoor pond setup.

Water Parameters: It prefers a temperature range of 24–29°C (75-84°F) and a pH level between 6.5 and 7.5 (though it can easily tolerate 6.0 to 8.0).

Escape Prevention: A heavy, tight-fitting, and securely locked lid is mandatory. Snakeheads are powerful jumpers and can easily leap out of open tanks.

Diet: They are strict, aggressive carnivores. They should be fed high-protein items like market shrimp, fish fillets, earthworms, insects, and crickets.
