Silver Shark 8-9CM

A Silver Shark (also known as the Bala Shark or Balantiocheilos melanopterus) at an 8–9 cm juvenile size is an active, peaceful freshwater schooling fish. They feature a sleek silver body with striking black-edged fins, grow up to 30–35 cm as adults, and require a large aquarium with a tight lid because they are strong jumpers.

Care and Requirements

Tank Size: Minimum 400–500 liters (125+ gallons) for adult growth, featuring wide open swimming spaces.

Water Parameters: Temperature 22–28°C (72–82°F) and pH levels between 6.5 and 7.5.

Behavior: Highly active, peaceful community swimmers with an alert, energetic disposition.

Diet: Omnivorous; they readily accept high-quality flakes, pellets, frozen foods, and occasional vegetables.
