Zebra Nerite Snails

Nerite snails (family Neritidae) are small, peaceful aquatic gastropods highly appreciated in the aquarium hobby for their unmatched algae-eating abilities. Growing to about 0.5 to 1 inch in size, they are considered the ultimate tank cleanup crew because they eat tough green spot algae and brown diatoms without harming live plants. Because their larvae require brackish or saltwater to hatch, they will not overpopulate or pest-breed in a freshwater home aquarium.
