Polar Parrot fish (Polar Blue Parrot Cichlid)

The polar parrot fish, commonly known as the Polar Blue Parrot Cichlid, is a popular freshwater hybrid aquarium fish. Believed to be a cross between a Convict Cichlid and a Blood Parrot Cichlid, it features a compact, rounded body, a striking metallic blue color, and a bold, active personality.

Appearance and Size

Size: Grows to about 3 to 4 inches (7 to 10 cm) long.

Color: Shimmering metallic or electric blue, sometimes with hints of orange or yellow on the fins.

Shape: Short, stout body with a slightly rounded forehead and a beak-like mouth.

Tank Care and Requirements

Water Temperature: Keep between 24°C to 28°C (75°F to 82°F).

Water pH: Ideal range is 6.5 to 8.0 (neutral to slightly alkaline).

Tank Setup: Provide a clean tank with good filtration, caves, and hiding spots, as they like to claim small territories.

Diet: Omnivorous; they readily accept flakes, pellets, bloodworms, and brine shrimp.

BehaviorTemperament: Generally active and inquisitive, but can show mild cichlid aggression or defend their favorite hiding caves when breeding.

Breeding: Unlike many hybrid cichlids, they can be fertile and readily lay eggs in caves or pots, with parents fiercely guarding their young.
