Vallisneria asiatica (commonly known as Asian Vallis or Corkscrew Vallis) is a highly popular, hardy submerged aquatic plant native to Asia, widely utilized by aquarists for its distinctively twisted, ribbon-like green leaves. It is an ideal background or side plant that remains relatively compact compared to giant varieties, typically reaching a manageable height of 30 to 60 cm.

Planting and Propagation

Substrate Placement: Plant directly into sand or gravel. Leave the crown (leaf base) completely exposed above the substrate to prevent melting.

Nutrients: It primarily feeds through its roots. Add root tabs occasionally to boost vitality if your substrate is inert. Avoid liquid carbon glutaraldehyde glues, which can cause the plant to rot.

Propagation: It reproduces rapidly by sending out horizontal runners (stolons). Simply clip and replant these baby nodes to expand your aquascape.

Pruning: If leaves grow too long, trim them directly with sharp scissors at the desired height.
